How to choose workwear for the oil and gas sector?

Workers in the oil and gas industry face a high-risk environment every day — the risk of fire, chemicals, static electricity, and the possibility of mechanical damage. Improperly selected workwear is not only uncomfortable, but also a direct safety issue. 1. Flame resistance standards
Clothing for workers working in the oil and gas sector must necessarily comply with EN ISO 11612 (protection against heat and flame) or EN ISO 11611 (protection during welding). Clothing made of ordinary fabric can cause serious burns because it melts in contact with flame — special fibers used in fire-resistant clothing do not spread the flame and protect the skin.
2. Antistatic property
In zones with a risk of explosion (oil platform, gas processing plant), static electricity sparking can be a serious source of accident. Therefore, clothing made of antistatic fabric complying with EN 1149 should be selected.

Especially for workers working at night or in areas with moving machinery, fluorescent and reflective clothing (EN ISO 20471) is essential.

Comfortable clothing has a direct impact on productivity during long working hours. Breathable fabric, adjustable cuffs and strong seams are all important factors for long-term use.
5. Comprehensive approach
A single piece of clothing is not enough. For complete safety, the following set is recommended:
Fireproof overalls or work set
Safety helmet (EN 397)
Oil and oil resistant gloves
Antistatic work shoes (class S3)
Safety goggles
